Project Overview

This project involved large-scale bulk earthwork, cut and fill operations, and compacted embankment formation for a 9.2 km road alignment in Panna district under the PWD MP. The project required significant terrain reshaping, including rock cutting in elevated sections and fill embankment in valley crossings. Wave Earth Infratech deployed a fleet of heavy excavation and earth-moving machinery to complete the earthwork within the contracted timeline, maintaining specified compaction densities across all embankment sections.

Scope of Work

  • Site clearing and grubbing across 9.2 km alignment
  • Rock cutting and hard excavation: 12,400 cum
  • Soil excavation and cut fill: 55,600 cum
  • Compacted embankment formation to specified density
  • Subgrade preparation and trimming to formation level
  • Box culvert construction (RCC): 8 nos
  • Slope protection and stone pitching at critical embankment sections
  • Drainage channels and cross-drainage works

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge

Unexpectedly hard basalt rock encountered in the elevated sections beyond initial estimates

Solution

Rock breaker attachment deployed on excavator; additional time factored in; final measurement revised with department approval

Challenge

Sandy fill material in valley sections failing compaction density tests

Solution

Borrow material replaced with approved laterite-soil mix; compaction process adjusted with additional passes

Challenge

Heavy rains during July-August disrupted embankment compaction work

Solution

Work rescheduled to night hours and early morning when ground was workable; polythene sheeting used to protect completed layers
